Today we joined other locals at the Wiehle-Reston East Open House for a look at the new transportation hub, the last stop (for now) on the new Silver Line Metro. Dignitaries, speeches, and pastries were followed by DJs and food trucks, all accompanied by a heaping helping of cool Silver Line swag.
The new underground transportation hub for the Reston East metro stop includes 2300 parking spaces, a 10-bay bus terminal, 15 bike racks and a secure reserved bike room. Upstairs, an open plaza leads to a pedestrian bridge that crosses the Dulles Toll Road and provides access to the metro.
When the Silver Line metro opens on July 26th, Restonians and the western burbs will finally have closer access to the DC metro system. New stops cover Reston to East Falls Church, and the line will eventually extend west into Loudoun County.
