Where to Stay on a Leesburg Getaway

There are several hotels in and near Leesburg plus an excellent resort and many highly-rated vacation rentals. Here are our suggestions for the best places to stay in Leesburg and nearby.

Lansdowne Resort and Spa

Lansdowne Resort and Spa is an excellent base for a Leesburg getaway. The resort is situated east of the historic downtown, on the banks of the Potomac River.

The roomy and comfortable guest rooms at Lansdowne Resort were renovated in 2016. Request a higher floor for lovely views of the Lansdowne property and surrounding countryside.

The resort offers several restaurants, a spa, three golf courses, tennis, hiking, and plenty of comfortable spaces to relax between outings.

Decor nods to the history of the 476-acre property. The location was an annual gathering place for the Algonquian Indians, and later became farmland owned by Lord Fairfax.

Golf lovers can play 45 holes on three different courses. Street and mountain bikes are available for exploring the roads and a segment of the Potomac Heritage Trail, which crosses the property.

The Lansdowne Resort Spa offers a menu of treatments to relax and rejuvenate. Visitors enjoy personal and couples treatment rooms, whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms, and more.

The Coton & Rye restaurant is named for the ancestral home of Thomas Lee, who managed the land for Lord Fairfax. The town of Leesburg is named after Thomas, not Robert E. or Thomas Lightfoot Lee as many people think.

Chef Marcus Repp partners with area businesses to procure local meats, produce, beer, and wine for the restaurant's menu. We have not dined at the restaurant but look forward to a future visit.
