2023 Labor Day weekend events in Northern Virginia celebrate the unofficial end of summer at family-friendly festivals, waterparks, and more. Labor Day 2023 is on September 4th but many events are held on September 2 or 3. The last long weekend of summer fun is a great time to check out a new park, attend a festival, and relax with family and friends.

2023 Labor Day Weekend Events in Northern Virginia

This guide lists Labor Day weekend events in Alexandria, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties plus surrounding towns. Events are listed in order of start date, with multi-day events listed first. No matter where you celebrate the long Labor Day weekend, we wish you a safe and happy time.

Corn Maze and Apple Harvest, Great Country Farms, Bluemont, Sep 1-30

Everyone loves fresh apples during apple season

Celebrate the apple-picking season with wagon rides to the u-pick apple orchard. The Great Country Farms apple festival is a month-long celebration. Kids can have a blast in the 12-acre play area and Stories from the Stars Corn Maze. On weekends, everyone can enjoy live music, marshmallow roasting, and cider pressing demonstrations, and fresh cider samples

Weekday admission to the farm is $12 per child, $14 per adult; $14/$16 on weekends. Hours are 9:00 – 5:00 daily (to 6:00 on weekends). Purchase timed advance tickets online to guarantee entry on weekends.

Celebrate Labor Day weekend at the annual Virginia Scottish Games and Festival at The Plains, in Loudoun County VA. This two-day festival honors the Commonwealth's Scottish heritage. Enjoy athletic competitions, music, dance, crafts, Scottish food and drink, and more.

The family-friendly event includes a car show, sheep-herding demonstrations, and fun children’s activities. Cheer on top athletes from around the country as they compete in the Stone Toss, Caber Toss, Heavy Hammer Throw, Sheaf Toss, and other traditional competitions of strength and skill.

Leashed dogs are welcome, and the games go on rain or shine. Adult two-day admission is $30; single-day $20; children 5 – 12 $5 on Saturday; under 5 free. Children 12 and under free on Sunday. 9:00 – 6:00 daily. Parking is free.

Final Waterpark and Pool Weekend, Sep 2 – 4

Labor Day weekend is the end of pool season for most Northern Virginia families. After the long weekend, most local town and regional pools and waterparks close for the season. All Northern Virginia Regional Park pools, plus Splash Down and Signal Bay Waterparks, will close to humans on Labor Day.

Auburn Farms Sunflower Festival, Brandy Station, Sep 2 – 3

Spend a day in the beautiful sunflower fields of Auburn Farm at the 4th annual Sunflower Festival. Fun for the whole family includes u-pick sunflower fields, a 4-acre corn maze, food, crafts, and outdoor activities. Leashed dogs are welcome. $10, 5 and under free; 10:00 – 6:00 daily.

Patsy Cline Block Party, Winchester, Sep 2

LoCo Musicians Festival, Hillsboro, Sep 3

Celebrate the thriving Loudoun County music scene with a day of music, wine, food, and fun at 868 Estate Winery. The annual festival raises funds to support local bands and performers. Follow the link to purchase $30 advance tickets. If not sold out, there are limited $35 day-of-show tickets. 16 and under are free but need a ticket. 2:00 – 9:00.

Labor Day Car Show, Fairfax, Sep 4

The 24th annual Labor Day Car Show returns to Fairfax City in 2023. View over 300 show cars including street rods, antiques, muscle cars, and more. Music, food, and raffles add to the fun. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged as this is a fundraiser for local charities. 8:00 – 3:00.
